How to Install Rhino Carbon Fiber

Install in 9 Easy Steps

1. Preparation1. Preparation

a. Locate where Rhino Carbon Fiber Straps will be installed.

b. Mark spot with marker.

NOTE (Per ACI Guideline)

• Rhino Carbon Fiber Straps should always be installed 4' on center.

• Rhino Carbon Fiber Straps should be placed in between mortar joints.

 


2. Grind2. Grind

a. Grind foundation wall the vertical length of where Rhino Carbon Fiber Straps will be installed.

b. Rhino Carbon Fiber Straps should span sill plate to floor.

c. Remove caulk/latex/etc. from mortar joints.

d. Achieve a "bare block" or "bare foundation" wall.

e. Use mortor joints as guide.


3. Mark3. Mark

a. Pre-mark drill holes with pencil or pen for the Sill Plate Bracket.

b. Make sure the Sill Plate Bracket is level with top of foundation wall.

c. An uneven Bracket will cause splitting and damage to the sill plate.


4. Drill4. Drill

a. Pre-drill holes using a 1/4" drill bit.

b. Holes will ensure a smoth mounting process for the combined Sill Plate Bracket and Rhino Carbon Fiber Strap.


5. Drill Footing5. Drill Footing

a. Pre-drill hole at a 45 degree in the center of the strip.


6. Attach6. Attach

a. Measure wall from floor to top sill plate.

b. Measure Rhino Carbon Fiber Strap and cut to length.

c. Prepare Rhino Carbon Fiber Strap and Sill Plate Bracket using diagram below.

d. Apply epoxy to all sides of Rhino Carbon Fiber Strap to ensure a secure bond between sill plate and Sill Bracket.

e. Use mortor joints as guide.

 

 

 


7. Mount7. Mount

a. Mount Sill Plate Bracket using diagram below.

b. Check level of Sill Plate Bracket to ensure a secure fit to sill plate.

c. Fasten (2) 3/8 x 2 lag bolts to Sill Plate Bracket.

 

 


8. Epoxy8. Epoxy

a. Apply epoxy to foundation wall and Rhino Carbon Fiber Strap using the diagram below.

b. Once there is a sufficient coating of epoxy applied to the foundation wall, lay down the Rhino Carbon Fiber Strap over epoxy ensuring the Rhino Carbon Fiber Strap is plumb with the ground.

c. Use squeege over epoxy for both foundation wall and Rhino Carbon Fiber Strap.

d. Use light strokes with squegee to spread epoxy while evenly focusing on the edges for a clean and secure installation.

 

 

 

 

 


9. Anchor

a. Secure the bottom of Rhino Carbon Fiber Strap using the diagram below.

b. Apply a sufficient coating of epoxy to foundation wall, Rhino Carbon Fiber Strap and twisted Rhino Carbon Fiber Pin.

c. Use light strokes with squeegee to spread epoxy evenly, focusing on the edges for a clean and secure installation.
